The variola virus (otherwise known as smallpox) is an infectious disease. The earliest evidential case was in the 1500's when the body of a deceased pharaoh had bumps all over his body. It was the most likely evolved from a rodent virus. The variola case is what this disease starts as. It has been eliminated from the public all though some scientists keep it for further research.

The last reported case in the United States was in 1949. The last occurring case (naturally) in the world was in Somalia in 1977. The disease has been eradicated and has vaccines. The vaccine can be used to help prevent or slow down the disease it is inside the body. some of the symptoms for this disease may include: High fever, headache, fatigue, malaise, backache, and rash.
